In
the Tehuacan Valley in Mexico, at this time there was a gradual
shift from foraging to crop growing, a process that may have

civilization the Ocos people arose. Named after an archaeological
site Ocos village, these people lived in large villages, and
while they did not use writing, they made sophisticated pottery.
