3000 Years ago in South East AsiaAlthough technologically more advanced than the Chinese, little is known about the region at this time. Small states influenced by Indian and Chinese cultures were developing. The grain millet was being grown in Thailand by 1000 BC. When the first settlers arrived on the Philippine islands is not known, but by 3000 BC, people related to the Polynesian Lapita culture were well established. They used pottery and made artifacts out of obsidian rock and shells. People along the coastal plains lived in villages built up on stilts. |
