Reflexologist

Keeping in touch

Stress can cause disease. By removing stress, reflexology aims to improve health. Foot and hand reflexology is based on the idea that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that corresponds to all body parts. The application of pressure to the hands and feet reduces stress and puts the body into a natural healing state. Nervous people pace back and forth, wring and rub their hands, bite their nails or handle worry beads. Reflexologists believe they are working on the reflex areas in their hands and feet to ease discomfort and relax.
Reflexology is an effective therapy on its own. It also compliments traditional medical treatment as well as chiropractic or other natural healing techniques. Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe for or treat specific illness. Instead, they work on reflexes in the feet and hands to remove the stress that causes disease or impedes the body's ability to heal itself.
As a reflexologist, you will find yourself doing more than working on your clients. You will have to look after your own business affairs, give receipts, book appointments and keep records. You will be paid by each client you wee. If you are affiliated with a chiropractic clinic, you will pay a percentage of your fee to the clinic.
