Baxter's EduNET - Time Machine

25 Years Ago... (parent's time)

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." These are the historic words from Neil Armstrong, the first human to have stepped on the moon. With this act, as humanity begins to move from the earth towards the planets and stars, we close our Timemachine. Now it is your generation's turn to make history and write the next chapter of the Timemachine.

If you have not already done so, visit some of the other 14 time periods covered. Would you like to live in one of these other times? Why or why not? What are some problems people in the past had that we do not? What are some problems that people of all times have had to deal with? Do we have any problems now that people who lived before us didn't have? What was something you would have liked to have visited in the Timemachine, but we did not include?

Here are some other activities you can try. What person from the past in the Timemachine would you like to meet? Why and what would you say to them? Write him or her a letter. Or put yourself in the role of news reporter, and write down ten questions you would ask this person.

What is one problem or issue that you think people in the past have not dealt with very well (such as war or pollution)? How could children of today help work on that problem or issue? Is there anything that past generations have done better than we do today?

E-mail EduNET and let us know what you think and send us your letters, and if you wish we will post your messages for others to read.
Walk on the moon.
